Portland, OR — Graduating form a Portland high school this year? Planning to enroll at Portland Community College? Want $500 to help pay tuition and buy books? Then you need to know about Portland’s Future Connect Scholarship program. Designed at Portland City Hall, the plan targets students with academic or financial problems. Or both. Students will have to meet four qualifications. They must receive a high school diploma during the 2010/2011 school year and must have participated in either the SummerWorks or Summer Youth Connect programs. Moreover, students must live or attend school in Multnomah County and plan to enroll in PCC in Fall 2011. Scholarship awards require achieving a minimum score on a college placement test. The $500 award will go to 200 students. More information about applying may be found at www.portlandonline.com/mayor/index.cfm?c=54329. Completed applications must be turned in by March 31, 2011.
