Well, we've got some cool ideas for this caliente week! Here's some great ideas for all sorts of ages and budgets! Wednesday, August 8th

PURE PROJECT starts at 5PM

Hosted by Orenco Taphouse

Pure Project Brewing out of San Diego has been making some great beer out there. but this Wednesday you'll get to try it out here!

 

Murklands W/Vic Secret - A crowd favorite pale ale with organic rye to add some spice and to balance out the fruity esters of peach and citrus from the yeast. Crushable and dank!

 

La Vie En Rosé - A Costa Rican inspired recipe, this traditional Farmhouse style Saison features a dry finish. Brewed W/locally sourced raw orange blossom honey, organic hibiscus flowers, and grains of paradise from Morocco.

 

Midnight in London - English Style Breakfast stout w/oats and organic whole leaf Earl Grey tea, and Italian Bergamot. Chocolate and citrusy bergamot is noticeable on the nose over a background of bright black tea, roasted notes and dark chocolate.

Barbarella 50th Anniversary Cocktail & a Movie

Hosted by McMenamins Mission Theater

We kick off our August "camp" movie spectacular with a real goodie! One of the top campy movies of all, Barbarella. The futuristic gem staring Jane Fonda has a little bit of everything. And fun fact, Duran Duran got there name from this movie, you are welcome when that comes up on your next trivia night.

There will be two showings of the Jane Fonda classic.

Saturday, August 11th

Alberta Street Fair starts 11AM

Hosted by Mt. Hood Meadows

Meadows will be at the Alberta Street Fair this summer! We will be teaching kids balancing skills similar to the ones they use skiing and snowboarding. Come visit us and enjoy this awesome, family friendly event! Kids 6 and younger will receive a free season pass and kids ages 7 to 14 will get a free lift ticket (valid during the 2018-19 season).

August Chunky Dunk - PDX (with special guest!) starts 5:15PM

Come dunk your chunk with us at the Peninsula Pool in North Portland. It’s the final dunk of the summer, we’ll have a special guest to help us wrap up our summer! The brilliant artist and photographer behind #BodiesLikeOceans, Shoog Mcdaniel (@shooglet and @shoogsart on instagram), will be joining us to help celebrate the end of Dunk season! They would love to do a free underwater group photo shoot with us. Of course, no one has to participate if they don’t want to. Participants will receive some photos from the shoot, and Shoog will use the pictures promotionally for their work and may sell some if they turn out awesome! Shoog is also available for private photo shoots while in town, so contact them to schedule if you’re interested!

 

Death Becomes Her: multiple showtimes August 11th through 14th

Distillery Row Summer Beach Bash starts 6PM

Join in the fun on Saturday, August 11th at the House Spirits Parking Lot for our third annual Summer Beach Bash! It’s not a real beach, but it is a blast. All eight distilleries of Distillery Row, plus three NW distilleries will be on-hand, serving up their favorite, personalized summery cocktails made from Portland’s finest handcrafted spirits. Live music by Men from S.U.R.F., games and activities, raffle prizes and swag, a photo booth and food carts. Admission is FREE! Cocktails are $7.

India Festival starts 10AM

India Festival brings India to Pioneer Courthouse Square! This festival is a celebration of India’s Independence Day with live music, dance, food and other entertainment. India Festival is hosted by the India Cultural Association, a non-profit dedicated to enhancing Indian cultural awareness.

The Stigma Project: U=U Understanding Science Over Stigma starts 5:30PM

Please join Cascade AIDS Project for a delicious meal, meaningful conversation, and an evening of knowledge, support, community, and empowerment.

 

During this interactive and collaborative presentation our guest speakers will unpack the often confusing science behind HIV, and explore what it means for you. What is undetectable? What are CD4 cells and why are they important? How does antiretroviral therapy work? Using accurate, evidence-based information, Part Two of The Stigma Project will answer these questions and more, while challenging misconceptions and misinformation that fuel shame and stigma.
